Comparativos e superlativos são muito usados no ENEM em textos sobre dados, rankings e argumentação.

Comparativos — comparar dois elementos

Adjetivos curtos (1-2 sílabas): + -er + than

  • fast → faster than / cheap → cheaper than / hot → hotter than

Adjetivos longos (3+ sílabas): more + adjetivo + than

  • expensive → more expensive than / important → more important than

Irregulares:

  • good → better than / bad → worse than / far → further/farther than

Exemplos:

  • *Brazil is larger than Argentina.* → Brasil é maior que Argentina.
  • *Renewable energy is more efficient than coal.* → Energia renovável é mais eficiente que carvão.

Superlativos — o extremo de um grupo

Curtos: the + adjetivo + -est

  • fast → the fastest / cheap → the cheapest

Longos: the most + adjetivo

  • expensive → the most expensive / important → the most important

Irregulares: good → the best / bad → the worst

As + adjetivo + as (igualdade)

  • *Solar energy is as clean as wind energy.* → A energia solar é tão limpa quanto a eólica.
  • *Not as expensive as expected.* → Não tão caro quanto o esperado.

Dica ENEM

Comparativos aparecem em textos com dados e gráficos. Leia "X is more Y than Z" → X supera Z em Y. Não confunda comparativo com superlativo.
